The meeting was called to order at 5:39 p.m. and adjourned at 6:30 p.m.

 

The following motion was considered.

  • EAC001-2023

    That the agenda for the Environment Advisory Committee Meeting of June 27, 2023, be approved, as published and circulated.

Charlotte Gravlev, Deputy City Clerk, City Clerk's Office, provided a presentation, which included an overview of Committee processes and meetings, and the role of Committee members. 

Pam Cooper, Acting Manager, Environmental Planning, Planning, Building and Growth Management, provided a presentation, which included an overview of Brampton's Environmental Program. 

The following motion was considered.

  • EAC002-2023

    That the presentations by the following staff, to the Environment Advisory Committee Meeting of June 27, 2023, re: Environment Advisory Committee Orientation, be received:

    1. Charlotte Gravlev, Deputy City Clerk, City Clerk's Office

    2. Pam Cooper, Acting Manager, Environmental Planning, Planning, Building and Growth Management

Charlotte Gravlev, Deputy City Clerk, explained the election process and advised Committee that, in accordance with the Terms of Reference for the Environment Advisory Committee, two Co-Chairs are to be appointed for a one-year period. 

At this time, Committee members introduced themselves and provided information on their education, experience and interest in the environment and in participating on this Committee.

Following the introductions, Ms. Gravlev opened the floor for nominations for the position of Co-Chair.

The following Committee members were nominated and accepted the nominations:

  • Pushproop Brar
  • Sherry-Ann Ram
  • Raman Vasudev

Sandra Roppa was nominated and declined the nomination.

There were no further nominations, and Ms. Gravlev announced the nominations were closed. 

Voting for the selection of Co-Chairs was taken with the results as follows:

  • Pushproop Brar - 5 votes
  • Sherry-Ann Ram - 6 votes
  • Raman Vasudev - 6 votes

Based on the results of the vote, Ms. Gravlev declared Sherry-Ann Ram and Raman Vasudev as Co-Chairs of the Environment Advisory Committee for a one-year period ending June 2024.

The following motion was considered.

  • EAC003-2023

    That the following members be appointed as Co-Chairs of the Environment Advisory Committee for a one-year period ending June 2024, or until a successor is appointed:

    1.    Sherry-Ann Ram 

    2.    Raman Vasudev

    Carried

    Raman Vasudev assumed the role of Chair for the remainder of the meeting.

The public was given the opportunity to submit questions in person or via e-mail to the City Clerk’s Office regarding any decisions made at this meeting. S. Pacheco, Legislative Coordinator, confirmed there were no questions from the public. 

    

The following motion was considered.

  • EAC004-2023

    That the Environment Advisory Committee do now adjourn to meet again for a regular meeting on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 or at the call of the Chair.
