Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. and recessed at 8:23 p.m.

Approval of Agenda

C. Gravlev, Deputy City Clerk, Legislative Services, chaired the meeting until selection of the Chair and Vice-chair (Item 7.1).

The following motion was considered.

• ATC001-2023

  That the agenda for the Active Transportation Advisory Committee Meeting of June 13, 2023, be approved, as published and circulated.

Presentation by the City Clerk's Office, re: Active Transportation Advisory Committee Orientation

C. Gravlev, Deputy City Clerk, Legislative Services, provided a presentation on procedural matters, which included information regarding the Committee process and meetings, and the role of members.

The following motion was considered.

• ATC002-2023

  That the presentation by C. Gravlev, Deputy City Clerk, Legislative Services, to the Active Transportation Advisory Committee Meeting of June 13, 2023, re: Active Transportation Advisory Committee Orientation be received.

Presentation by Nelson Cadete, Acting Senior Manager of Transportation Planning, re: The City of Brampton's Active Transportation Master Plan

Nelson Cadete, Senior Project Manager, Active Transportation, Planning, Building and Growth Management provided an overview of the subject matter and answered questions of clarification. 

The following motion was considered. 

• ATC003-2023

  That the presentation by N. Cadete, Acting Sr. Manager, Transportation Planning, Integrated City Planning, to the Active Transportation Advisory Committee Meeting of June 13, 2023, re: Active Transportation Advisory Committee Orientation be received.

Other / New Business / Information Items

7.1

City Clerk's Office, re: Election of Chair and Vice-Chair for the Active Transportation Advisory Committee

Charlotte Gravlev, Deputy City Clerk, Legislative Services, explained the election process, advised that, in accordance with the Terms of Reference, a Chair and Vice-chair are to be selected, and provided options for the term of the appointment.

There was Committee consensus to appoint a Co-Chairs for a two-year term. 

Ms. Gravlev opened the nominations for Co-Chairs.

Alina Grzejszczak nominated Stephen Laidlaw. Mr. Laidlaw accepted the nomination.

Alina Grzejszczak nominated Lisa Stokes. Mrs. Stokes accepted the nomination.

There were no further nominations. Ms. Gravlev announced that nominations were closed.

Voting for the selection of Co-Chairs was taken in alpha surname order. The results were as follows:

Stephen Laidlaw – 10 votes
Lisa Stokes - 10 votes

Based on the results of the votes, Ms. Gravlev declared Stephen Laidlaw and Lisa Stokes as Co-Chairs of the Committee.

The following motion was considered.

• ATC004-2023

  That Stephen Laidlaw and Lisa Stokes be selected Co-Chairs of the Active Transportation Advisory Committee for a two-year period, ending June 2025.

  Carried

  Note: Stephen Laidlaw chaired the balance of the meeting, as Co-Chair.

Correspondence from Sylvia Menezes Roberts, Brampton Resident, re: Active Transportation Advisory Committee

Committee acknowledged the correspondence and advised further consideration of the correspondence would be undertaken at a future sub-committee meeting.

The following motion was considered.

  That the Active Transportation Advisory Committee do now adjourn to meet again on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 7:00 p.m.
