The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. and adjourned at 7:47 p.m.

    That the agenda for the Age-Friendly Brampton Advisory Committee meeting be approved as published and circulated.

The minutes were considered by Planning and Development Committee on July 25, 2021, and approved by Council on August 11, 2021.  The minutes were provided for Committee’s information.

Mirella Palermo, Policy Planner, provided a presentation entitled, 'Age-Friendly Video Resource & Directory – Project Update', highlighting the following:

  • Project overview - mandate and objectives
  • Project timeline - implementation stage
  • Stakeholder consultation highlights
  • Resource directory format
  • Recap and next steps

Ms. Palermo displayed a video indicating some of the services, amenities and resources that will be available, such as, housing, transportation, financial and accessibility supports. 

Committee discussion on this matter included the following:

  • Timelines for rollout of hard copies of resource directory to the community following completion in locations, such as, hospitals 
    • document was available online live - hard copies and flyers may be available in several languages at a future date
  • Suggestion that the information provided in the presentation should be presented to CARP (Canadian Association of Retired Persons) - staff will provide input as required

Ms. Palermo referenced the video testimonials from the community and noted that additional testimonials in other languages would be welcomed as the intent was to highlight and focus services in Brampton. The resource directory may be accessed online, and the video portion will be available on the City’s webpage in January 2022.

    That the Age-Friendly Brampton Advisory Committee meeting do now adjourn to meet again on November 23, 2021, at 7:00 p.m.
